                   Ooty – queen of hills, pleasant weather, scenic destinations, and a lot more, makes it a serene spot for honeymooners and families. Ooty is a fun city with plenty of entertaining activities on the go. The city has a mesmerizing artificial lake that attracts world-wide tourists. It’s situated around 1km from the bus station and railway station. This artificial lake is one of the popular places that represent the population of Ooty tourism. 

    Ooty lake and boat club history

                    This artificial lake was built by John Sullivan, the collector of Coimbatore in 1824 AD. The lake covers a huge area of 65 acres with an average depth of 40 feet and fed by the mountain streams of Ooty valley. The lake was originally built with the intention of fishing with ferries and travel across the lake. The lake got a shrunk from its original size, giving place to the present bus stand racecourse and lake park. Ooty lake and Boat club have a beautiful ambiance surrounded by the alluring valleys and groves of Eucalyptus trees, also the presence of railway line running along with one of the shore side. Ooty lake and Boat club is a major landmark controlled by the Tamil Nadu Tourism Development Corporation  in the year 1973, with the aim of providing boating facilities to all the tourists.

                    Boating is one of the best things to do in Ooty, especially in the Ooty boat house bringing in more visitors from all over the world. The Ooty boat house offers special facilities that include pedal boats, rowboats, motorboats, and a lot more options to explore the artificial lake. Honeymooners get a splendid chance to pedal their own boats and roam around the huge lake. Get a scenic background for your photos and get ready for the entertaining boat races, conducted during the month of May.  The Ooty lake and boat club organizes boat race and other entertaining activities as a part of summer festival in Ooty. 

                    Enjoy playing with your kids in the mini garden with an excellent amusement park for children, get your family and travel in the toy train for unlimited fun. 

                    Enjoy 7D cinema in the horror and mirror house. This costs around Rs.100 per person. Apart from cinema, indulge in dashing car, break-dance, and Columbus games that costs around Rs.50 per head. 

                    Look at the beautiful flower garden, selling flowers and seeds next to the exit. Get ample of parking space and indulge in shopping, where shops sell woolen cloths and toys. 

    Ooty Lake and boat club entry fee and timings

                  The boat club starts at 8 am in the morning and operates till 5.30pm in the evening. The entry fee varies for Indians and foreigners, Rs.15 per person for Indians and Rs.560 for international travelers. They charge an extra amount of Rs.50 for still camera and Rs.150 for video purpose. 

                   Boating approximately takes place for 30 minutes and the charges include, Rs.170 for 2 seated pedal boats, Rs.180 for two seated row boats, Rs.260 for four seated pedal boat, and finally, Rs.450 for 8 seated motor boats.
